Syracuse Area Health culminated its grand opening phase Tuesday with a ribbon cutting organized by Syracuse Area Chamber of Commerce. The hospital held its grand opening ceremony on Thursday, November 1 and officially began accepting patients on Saturday, November 10.
The Chamber’s Carolyn Gigstad called the ribbon cutting a special moment.
Gigstad: “We love it when businesses in town expand, especially to this huge thing. It’s going to have better services. People are going to stay in Syracuse and go here and shop here, instead of hauling off to Lincoln.”
Gigstad also served on the board and made the motion to building the new hospital.
Laura Lee Fossenbarger of Syracuse Area Health said the move completes the combining of Community Memorial Hospital and Syracuse Medical Center. Hospital CEO Michael Harvey cut the ribbon.
